Utterbrilliance workshop tutor and founder of OMUK Mark Estdale is teaming up with Mike Csurics at this year’s Game Sound Con in Los Angeles for a special on empowering performance for voice recording in video games.

Advanced VO Capture
(Michael Csurics, Mark Estdale) The standard recording studio, recording software and recording methods were never designed for recording voice for games. You can hammer the round peg into the square hole but you can also change the rules. This session is about changing the rules. This is a practical toolbox of takeaways from the immersive recording methodologies developed to empower creativity when recording for complex RPGs, Adventures and subtle narrative driven games.

A crazy year and new workshop dates

Actors have been on my back for months for us to start scheduling more workshops and I have been so keen to do so, but we’ve been hampered by the busiest of busy production schedules.  Since July 2012 we’ve clocked up over 60 productions, built a new studio and are about to celebrate our 500th production with the release of Diggs Nightcrawler at the end of May.

For me the workshops are a precious opportunity to spend an extended and pressure free time working closely with actors.   In casting and production I never have the time.  I miss the workshops so I’m very glad that we’ve  now have the new studio space and a window in the schedule to at last have one.

The new studio has launched with a world first for games and animation with a live animation facial capture system that we’ll demo as part of the new workshops, see the photos on the Gallery page.

We are also committing to have workshops in September and October or November.

Here are few youtube links to some of the recent productions to enjoy:
